With Stingel, I repaint the ghosts of a distant past,
my brushstrokes will not take the weight. - Drenched Co
Comment: "As always the passing of time is palpable in Stingel's art. I am reminded of a calendar of animals photographs from my own past, images of which stand salient still in my mind. Stingel's work to me is more about the linger of a past as time starts taking more than it gives. A millisecond stretched over what seems like an eternity of painting. And layers of pigmentation over time reminds me of Maya Angelou's poem 'Passing time': 'Your skin like dawn Mine like musk One paints the beginning of a certain end. The other, the end of a sure beginning.' " - JayZee
