Exhibition Review - Stephen Dwoskin at Vilma Gold, London till 19th Dec 2015.
With Dwoskin, my gaze is never dishonest in its horror. - Drenched Co
Comment: "Watching Dwoskin's films, I am rooted when I can't wait to escape. 'Girl' (1971) shames me for my sadistic voyeurism. I don't want to be seen and exposed. Yet this is what Dwoskin does to me. I felt it again in his masterpiece 'Behindert' (1974). It is this 'fourth look', present in a lot of Dwoskin's first person narratives where his subjective camera limits the vision in ways that horror may hide in its blindspots. I can't go back!
